Hello West Rusk Junior High!

My name is Wendy Jackson and I am the West Rusk Junior High Counselor. I am excited to serve the students and faculty of West Rusk Junior High. I am a 1998 graduate of WR and my four children all attend this awesome district! It is my mission to assist all students in reaching their academic, emotional, and social potential. I want to help prepare them for success in high school and beyond!

Some of the ways I may interact with a junior high student:

  • Individually
  • Classroom Guidance
  • Academic and Behavior Meetings

INDIVIDUALLY:  Students, Parents and/or Teachers can request for a student to come down and visit with me to discuss various topics that they feel are of concern (Friendships, Family, Academics etc.).  These meetings are held in my office and are done confidentially.
                                                                                    
CLASSROOM GUIDANCE:  I will be coming into your classrooms throughout the school year to discuss various topics.  Topics will include; Chemical Prevention, Diversity Awareness, Career Exploration, Service Learning etc.  Each topic will have hands-on activities and sometimes school wide events. 

ACADEMIC/BEHAVIOR MEETINGS:  At times it may be necessary for me to meet with you and your parents/teachers/principal to discuss difficulties you are having with academics or behavior problems.  This is an opportunity for us to figure out a plan to help you become more successful with school work, friendships and discipline issues.

 It is truly a blessing to be the counselor at West Rusk Junior High.  My priority is to provide a safe learning environment for your student as well as provide them with the skills they need to develop through this rollercoaster of adolescence.  I believe each child has the ability to pave their own future and make their own happiness. I will work hard to help the students at West Rusk to be kind, happy, responsible, successful, and on a path that will lead to an exciting career and future!
